Eight reasons why you should choose ME as your destination wedding videographer

What does a destination wedding mean to you? A destination wedding can be attractive for many reasons. It may be an opportunity for couples to visit somewhere they’ve never been. Or maybe an excuse to have a smaller wedding with just close friends and family. Depending on the location it may be the lure of guaranteed sunshine that appeals. Waking up on honeymoon sounds good to me! I absolutely love destination weddings and, whatever your reasons, here are eight reasons why you should consider me as your destination wedding videographer.

1. Because I’m a travel junkie

Destination weddings usually mean beautiful scenery and warm weather and that’s a dream for me! Whenever I get the chance, I’m off on an adventure (I’ve recently come back from Canada and I can’t wait to share my travel film with you soon). I love travelling and exploring different cultures, so when I’m able to combine my love for destination wedding videography with my love for travel, I’m a very happy bunny indeed.

I will fall in love with your destination for the same reasons you did, I’ll count down the days like you will and I’ll be excited about capturing every little bit of the magic as your destination wedding videographer.

To read more about me, my love for travel and to see a travel film I made in Morocco, take a look at this recent post, The Girl Behind the Camera.

2. Because I’m chilled

Destination weddings tend to be more chilled, with the celebration continuing for a few days. This means there’s plenty of time for guests to get to know each other/catch up and celebrations can include a welcome meal, BBQ, pool party etc. Chilled weddings definitely suit my personality and that’s why I love destination wedding videography.

Often with destination weddings, the ceremony takes place later in the day, so the heat isn't uncomfortable, and the wedding party has more time to relax and prepare in the morning. This gives me, as your destination wedding videographer, a lovely opportunity to capture the atmosphere of the day without running around to a tight schedule. I also love that most of the day can take place outside – dining al fresco etc. It’s so special being outdoors, and being able to capture the light changes, the bird song etc. It’s just all so relaxed and I love it.

My couples who go abroad to get married have chosen this because they want something less formal and more relaxed and fun. They choose me as their destination wedding videographer because I’m relaxed too!

3. Because I go above and beyond

So often I find myself putting in extra hours because I’m just loving being part of your celebration and am thoroughly enjoying videoing your destination wedding! Sunshine makes everyone happy and smiley, and seeing your guests in holiday mode is infectious.

I have been known to turn up to pre-dinner drinks and pool parties… only when invited of course! I’m just so invested in my couples and making them a beautiful wedding film they’ll cherish forever.

4. Because I ‘get’ you and I’m passionate about telling your story

Before every wedding I get to know my couples as much as possible. Knowing what your lives are like, your individual tastes and what’s important to you, influences the way I film and edit your destination wedding video. I will research your destination and develop a clear idea in my mind for the ‘feel’ of your wedding video, long before I step off the plane.

I always advise couples (whether they’re getting married at home or abroad) to pick suppliers whose work they fall in love with. I hope you’ll fall in love with the way I film and edit wedding videos. The way I take elements that are personal to you; snippets from the speeches, footage of children/special moments and blend it all together with the perfect music, the perfect sounds, to make a destination wedding video that is totally bespoke to you.

5. Because I’m very self sufficient

I’m a seasoned traveller so you don’t need to worry about me… I’ll make myself at home and start exploring and doing what I need to do. It’s my style to be discreet and unobtrusive when I film weddings and that goes for destination wedding videography too. I’m like a Chameleon, I blend into the background as much as possible, but that said I’m happy to chat and interact with your guests when appropriate. I’ve become very good at reading situations!

6. Because I’m experienced

I’m experienced with weddings, both at home and destination wedding videography, so you’re welcome to ask me for any advice based on my previous experiences. I know what’s important when it comes to interacting with venues and fellow wedding suppliers at your destination wedding. I’m used to working with photographers; building a rapport, keeping out of their way (and making sure I don’t get in theirs!), making each other aware of important moments etc.

7. Because I’m curious

For destination weddings I spend a day walking around and getting a feel for the location. It depends on what’s around to film, but all my senses are on high alert. I love checking out what’s going on and am fascinated by everything! The hustle and bustle of the market, traditional food being prepared. I may capture sounds, local people playing music, iconic landmarks, boats bobbing, the movement of the sea, the sound of waves gently lapping at the shore…

I love to get a real sense of a place; whether that’s the calm atmosphere of the Moroccan desert, or the heady romance of a cosmopolitan Paris elopement. As your destination wedding videographer, I want your wedding film to bring back all the feelings of your amazing day.

8. Because I speak your lanquage

If you choose local suppliers for your destination wedding, cultural, language and time zone barriers can make communication tricky and can be frustrating. The majority of my work is done when I get home from a destination wedding. I’m great at communication and keeping you in the loop re the editing process and timescales. I understand you’ll be super excited to see your video!

I recently got home from a beautiful wedding in the Dordogne Region of France and spent a few days with Jen and Tim capturing the magic of their chic, tropical outdoor wedding. They had a beautiful afternoon ceremony and a dinner that went on late into the evening. It was a truly magical, upbeat celebration.

Of course, as well as deciding whether I’m the right destination wedding videographer for you, there are plenty of other things to consider when planning a destination wedding. We compiled a list of four considerations in a previous post so take a look if you can https://www.oneforeverfilms.co.uk/destination-wedding-planing-considerations.

I can't wait to hear about your exciting plans.
